The term communication deals with the basic concept of conveying one’s thoughts and feelings to another by means of gestures or actions or by the use of a common language to know the reaction of a person on a particular task or subject.

Human beings communicate to each other verbally as well as by non-verbal means. Non-verbal means include the use of symbols or actions or gestures to indicate and to represent one’s thoughts and feelings to another person. Verbal means of communication include the use of a common language to express one’s ideas and emotions.

Communication can also be classified into two types as direct and indirect type of communication. Direct means of communication is that type of communication where the reaction to a particular behavior or action would necessitate a particular type of response or action whereas in indirect communication the response cannot be predicted and is not known.

Broadly, communication is divided into two main types. They are:

1. Direct communication and indirect communication and

2. Verbal and Nonverbal communication

Direct communication can be verbal or non-verbal and likewise indirect communication may be verbal or non-verbal. Verbal communication and non-verbal communication can also exist in the direct or indirect form.

So, the various types of communication are verbal and direct, verbal and indirect, non-verbal and direct, non-verbal and indirect. Verbal and direct communication would mean a transparent and easily understandable way of expressing your emotions.

This may be best explained by an example such as telling a person that you are happy when you really feel happy. Verbal and indirect type of communication implies a hidden and opaque revelation of your thoughts and emotions such as expressing your feelings through remarks, taunts, etc, which do not specifically denote a particular feeling or an emotion of yours.

Non-verbal communication makes use of actions and symbols to convey your emotions. This may be best explained by an example such as, hitting a person to bring to his notice that you are angry or unhappy with him/her.

Verbal and indirect means of communication may be best explained by the following actions such as winking your eyes at a person to convey an idea or a feeling or staring at a person for a prolonged period of time to express your dissatisfaction or looking away from a person to show that you aren’t really interested in him/her.

Communication can be effectively executed with or without the use of actions, with or without the use of symbols and with or without the use of a language. Our body is an important aspect which makes communication possible.

Communication can also be made through sexual interaction with our partners and this form exists in both humans as well as in animals. The essence of communication would include the following stages.

They are:

1. Absorption of information from an external source by listening or reading, etc,

2. Interpretation of the information, and

3. Reaction to the stimuli through behavior, to express your emotions.

Many people think that hypnosis is an ineffective tool to treat problems associated with mind. They may have reasons to believe so. Their previous sessions with a hypnotist may have turned out to be a failure. The hypnotist may not have been able to bring them to a state of trance because the hypnotist was either a scam or inexperienced.

A few cases of failure don’t mean that hypnosis is a pseudo-science. Hypnosis can be applied on anyone as long as the hypnotist is a qualified and experienced one. This is probably the only treatment that can reach your subconscious mind.

Hypnosis has been practiced for ages when other medical treatments were not available. Shamans in the olden days used hypnosis to treat both mental and physical disorders.

Research on the subject made hypnosis an accepted branch of science capable of dealing with both the subconscious and conscious mind. We all have live instances of being hypnotized in one way or the other in our daily lives. These instances will convince you that hypnosis is not a fake science.

For example, when you read, write and watch a movie, your mind will be taken to a different level by what are fully engaged in. When you read an interesting story, you find that your thoughts are influenced by the thoughts of the characters in the story.

Your physical and mental reactions to certain scenes in a film will be so spontaneous that you will not notice how far you have already been carried away by the film you are watching. Similarly, if you are writing something interesting, you will wonder at how oblivious you were to the outside world while you were fully concentrated in your writing.

These are some examples of being hypnotized in your daily life by what you are concentrating on. They have a great influence on your mind. The way you think and act are influenced by what you are doing and watching. Your mood and feelings swing according to theme of the story or film.

You sometimes feel happy, sad, angry and excited without you being fully aware of the change in you. These changes in you are brought about by these external forces-the book and the film. Whether you like it or not, you are bound to be influenced by the emotions which the book or the film is intended for.

You may wonder afterwards how easily you were influenced by the message the book or the film conveyed. The conclusion is that human mind can easily be influenced and made to react in any way external forces want.

There are other ways also to check how easily your mind will be influenced by external factors and suggestions by others. The key to success is to discover your own mind. Through hypnosis, you can discover the negative thoughts hidden in your subconscious mind which will always try to hinder your progress.

As long as you harbor the negative thoughts and bad habits in you, success in life will remain unattainable. Have belief in hypnosis and treat your conscious and subconscious mind to get rid of your negative thoughts and live a more successful life.

Conversational hypnosis is basically the process of hypnotizing a person without actually putting the person into hypnotism. It can be a great tool to get people’s attention. It gives you the ability to establish trust or rapport with the person, enabling you to communicate your feelings clearly.

Rapport is defined as the process of being synchronized with another person subconsciously. Establishing rapport is critical for proper communication because it will take you a long way in gaining the trust of the person you are communicating with.

This is not like normal hypnosis, it doesn’t involve hypnotizing the subject, everything happens subconsciously within the conversation. Conversational hypnosis involves Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). One important aspect of NLP and conversational hypnosis are three representational systems. They are visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

Visual

This system basically defines the kind of person who gravitates towards their visual field. Some people may be more in tune with their visual field. When something is explained to them, they are very good at imagining those things in their heads and later when recalling that conversation, a mental image will pop up in their minds. Artists and musicians fall into this category.

Auditory

Auditory deals with the people who depend upon their auditory sense. They are more used to sounds. They would try and associate things with sounds and words. People who are in tune with sounds often say “sounds good” or “I hear what you are saying”.

Kinesthetic

This system is associated with people who rely on their sense of touch. When talking to a person of this category, he might say “hold on” when they are asking you to wait. Sculptors represent this group. The sense of touch is able to appeal to anybody’s representational system thereby enabling you to establish a decent level of trust. It gives the subject a feeling that you are there for him and you understand his feelings.

Once that kind of trust is established, he is more likely to listen to you. There are two ways to hypnotize a person subconsciously. It is discussed in the following section.

Utilizing The Mirroring Method

This method works like a mirror, imagine that you are in front of a mirror, then slowly raise your left hand, the image will raise its right hand. In mirroring method you are actually mirroring another person to establish rapport with that person.

You can hypnotize someone subconsciously by mirroring him. Try to imitate the way he behaves. For example: If he is sitting with his right leg crossed, then you must sit with your left leg crossed, this sends a message that you are like him and this happens subconsciously.

Another way of mirroring someone is to mirror their breathing pattern. Imitate their breathing rhythm. There is a technique called cross-over mirroring. In cross-over mirroring you will be able to mirror someone’s breathing without altering your breathing pattern.

In this, if you want to mirror breathing, you can tap your finger or pen using the same rhythm as their breathing. You must do this very carefully otherwise you might get spooked. This technique requires tremendous amount of practice. Doing it too fast can get you spooked or doing it too late will not let you establish rapport.

Exercise your skills and try it on your friends. If you have patience, you can certainly master this skill.

It is a well known saying that a good message or speech will travel to the listener’s heart if and only if it is conveyed with a good body language. Else, the travel ends at the listener’s ear.

This blog post will share with you how to deliver an effective public speech with the correct use of your expressions, sound modulations, hand gesture, use of feet, your confidence etc so that you transform from a boring sound box to a great orator.

The Head

First and foremost thing to be remembered during your speech is your facial expression! In sync to what you preach, your idea should be supported with your facial expressions like anger, shock, smile, amazement, frown etc.

An important message passed to the listener with the correct expressions and sound modulation is never forgotten. The audience would absorb what you preach like a blotting paper and act upon that.

Eye Contact

Next important factor to be taken care in public speaking is the Eye Contact of the orator with the audience. There are DOs and DON’Ts in keeping Eye Contact.

DOs are keeping random eye contact for 2 – 3 second with each member and having your ideas reach their heart and the DON’Ts are having repetitive sweeping or scanning motion of eye over the gathering which would lead the audience to sleep rather than engaging with the speech.

But, if the number of listeners is large, keeping eye contact with each individual is difficult or rather impossible. But when you look to a group of people from a distance, it is a human tendency for each individual of the group to feel as if you are looking at him.

While addressing a large gathering, this ‘mob feeling’ can be made use of. You should clump people into small groups and look. Because of the distance, each would feel as if the orator is looking into his own eyes and they all feel happy and would surely be more attentive.

Your Feet

At the end there are your feet and legs. If you are required to stand at one place while speaking you need to pay attention to your stance and posture. Stand straight with legs slightly apart. Keep your weight equally distributed on both feet. Don’t lean on any one leg.

At the same time do not move from side to side. If you need to move around on stage try to look natural without slouching or dragging your feet. But ramp walking like a model should also be avoided. It is but natural to feel nervous when on stage. It’s due to the adrenaline in the body. You need to put that to good use rather than avoid performing.

Nerves will show mostly in your extremities. But by staying calm and focused this nervous energy can help you perform better. Even professional feel these nerves but they learn to redirect this energy and make it work for them. So be confident and it will show in your body language.

It is a well known fact that a good message or speech will travel to the listener’s heart if and only if it is conveyed with a good body language. Else, the travel ends at the listener’s tympanum.

In this blog post, I intent to share 3 key tips to deliver an effective public speech like the correct use of our expressions, hand gesture, voice modulations, use of feet, topic confidence etc so that you transform from a boring sound box to a great orator.

The Body

Whatever is your body structure, just keep it straight, visible to the audience, be relaxed and confident, that’s it! The rest will follow by itself. The only caution is to maintain your body balance and then you can deliver your message straight to the heart of the listener.

Hands and Arms

Majority of the people do not know what to do with their hands and arms during a speech. They usually grasp somewhere, insert their hands in the pocket or do some scratching on the podium. In fact they are actually forgetting that arms and limbs aid the orator in the deliverance to a great extent.

These limbs are like supporting artists to the hero in a play. In sync to what you preach, your idea should be supported with the appropriate dramatic movement of your hands and arms.

Your facial expressions like anger, shock, smile, amazement, frown etc aided with hand gestures and voice modulations would magically change the effect of your speech. Such speeches are never forgotten.

The audience would absorb what you preach like a blotting paper and act upon that. Depending on the gravity, tension and urgency of your topic a blow on the bench, throw of closed fist in the air, pointed finger etc conveys your sincerity and attachment to the subject and the message would directly hit where it is meant to be.

An emotionless speech without any of the above ‘supporting artists’ would force the listener to look in to his watch and surely bore them to the core.

Body Movement

And last but not the least is the art of body movement. First thing essential for this ‘movement’ is nothing but a clear space for movement. The stage should be clear of obstacles, hanging wires, without obstruction between you and the listener and a clean and rough floor. Once the above conditions are achieved, you can master the art of body movement in public speaking.

Body movement can be very much effective in pulling the attention to your lips. If you are not delivering your speech behind a podium, you can best utilize the chance by proper body movement.

A good orator is actually a good player of mono act. Exactly in sync with the situation, you move around the stage, cut jokes with your move and utilize the space keeping your body balance and next you would see the listener imitating your expressions with utmost concentration and joy. These elevate you from a normal speaker to an efficient orator and a crowd puller.

Body language is a type of non-verbal communication that comprises body posture facial expressions, signs and eye movements. Body language may reveal mental state of a person. It may show whether the person is sad, happy, relaxed, angry or tense.

Persons send out and decipher such signals almost involuntarily. Body language is common not only in humans but also in birds and animals. For example, when bees want to convey to other bees where to find a new place of “nectar”, they gesticulate in the form of a little dance in front of the beehive.

Quickly decoding the gestures, the other fees fly off in the direction indicated. In the whole process, there was no buzzing and no other communication except little signals. This is the body language at its best.

In our day-to-day life, we are all tuned to communicate through body language. This technique of wordless communication is passed on from one generation to another. In effect, communication depends more on body language than words.

Someone has scientifically established this. Many consider that around 80% to 90% of human communication consists of body language and that it always reveals the truth. Many consultants have established this in discussions with clients about truth, falsehood and fiction. Clients are divided into pairs to play a “story telling game”.

Each member of the pair tells the other pair one aspect of truth and another factor of fiction, without disclosing the details. The other group’s teammate listens carefully, assesses which one is true and which one is false. Based on this judgment, the partner introduces the other member of the pair to the group.

If their conclusions about the truth and falsehood are found to be incorrect, the partner is permitted to rectify them. The discussion that follows clearly brings out the fact that the conclusions about truth or non-fiction and falsehood or fiction were mainly based on instinct or involuntary actions of body language.

Body language is not a deception and does not depend upon the capacity of the “story-teller” to influence through his narrative or “acting”. It is a basic non-verbal communication. A proper understanding of the process of body language can be a very useful technique in numerous business ventures and professional jobs.

For example, body language plays a vital role in police force, recruitment agencies and sales promotion activities. The awareness of body language and the level of communication using this method can be enhanced by constant practice and training.

However, the signs that we have been using since birth can sometimes be detrimental to our interests. This is because of the diversity in cultures in different parts of the world. For instance, people use a smile, a touch or other gestures in building relationships or greeting in ceremonies or functions.

While westerners may welcome direct eye-to-eye contact to communicate and both men and women do not mind a handshake, people of other cultures may not appreciate these types of gestures.

Similarly, while South Americans, even in formal situations, like to come physically close to the person they are talking, Americans and the British people would like to maintain a safe distance. It is, therefore, essential to grasp the implied meaning in any body language method of communication.

Milton Erickson is called as the father of hypnosis. The people who were not aware of it doubted him to be a forgetful person or scatterbrain when they watched him employing his technique. But nothing affected him and he attained the expected outcome. He could successively bring people into a hypnotic or ecstatic state.

Now I remember a story about Milton told by Tad James. One day Milton went on a travel to visit his friends. He recollected alighting from the car and loud noises were audible. Out of his curiosity he searched and found out the source of the sound. He looked up to find a door on which it was written “Boiler Factory.”

He was very inquisitive and wanted to find out what was happening. He pushed the heavy door with all his might and it opened slowly. Since there was no lights inside he had to wait a bit for his eyes to get adjusted. It has been just contrast to a dentist’s office.

One of my colleagues who is a dentist told during the NLP training that hypnosis was exercised by him only in the cases of clients who needed dental work. Though I wanted to know about it in detail, I had to wait till the next break.

During the break time, I talked to him more about it. I was really enthralled and wished to learn more. It is really great to be able to attract the audience’s attention from the starting of a meeting, a session or a class. Whether you be a teacher, a sales person or a legal representative it proves your efficiency. No doubt it was a rare technique.

Richard Bandler and John Grinder were putting their effort to study what exactly Milton was doing. In NLP it is referred to as Modeling, which is a process of unpacking the activities of an expert. They watched all his fruitful actions and realized that whenever he starts narrating any stories he had the habit of starting another story, at a point where he had reached an interesting part.

But he has always successful in wrapping up these stories finally. Usually this process is done with one to five stories and even more if you have enough time and this process is known as “Nested Loops.” The main thing is to find the best place to split the story.

You have to know the states of your audience and ensure that they are not left in a negative state, but should be a “cliffhanger” and leave him with a positive feeling. Now they can establish their states to their idea.

The idea will open up the loops as it is seen in the story of Milton or the dentist. Now it is time for you to make your talk. Ensure that you have finished with your topic and you are ready to close the loops, but in the reverse order.

In this blog post, I will end with the conclusion of the dentist’s story and that of Milton Erickson’s boiler factory.

I had a talk with the dentist about the hypnotic techniques he exercised to anesthetize his patients and was astounded. There have been many innovations in the techniques of hypnosis since its starting.

After a few moments, Milton could get a clear view of the boiler factory interior. He watched the workers doing different types of works in every nook and corner. He decided to get more information from the manager. You might have noted that I left you in suspense at the second story’s end.

You can follow this method and increase the people’s interest in the subject. Once you master this technique you can see yourself that the people turn out to be very curious in your talks and this curiosity regarding the suspense of the story will enhance your story or talks.

The first thing that comes into mind when it comes to hypnotizing someone is seeing a person looking hard into a spinning top or a swinging pocket watch tied to a chain. One must understand that hypnosis doesn’t involve any incantations or magic tricks.

Now there is a type of hypnosis called conversational hypnosis. Now one might wonder what is that and whether it works or not? Conversational hypnosis is real and very effective if one could learn to use it well.

Conversational hypnosis is also sometimes referred as the art of covert hypnosis. The main reason people want to learn this sort of hypnosis is to pass on subliminal messages and manipulate other people’s mind.

A notable psychotherapist, Dr. Milton Erickson believed that trance states were a natural phenomenon and one can slip in and out of it many times a day. Dr. Erickson found it experimentally that by passing down messages and suggestions carefully with a bit of proper timing and confusion onto people, he could make them go into the trance hypnotic states.

Stages Of Verbal Hypnosis

Conversational hypnosis is done in three stages. In the first stage a good understanding and relationship is developed with the individual. This is done to put the mind of the subject at ease and make him feel comfortable. Once you gain the trust of the person, the person will be more receptive to your words and this plays a vital role in conversational hypnosis.

In the second stage you need to add a bit of confusion in the conversation. This stage is a bit tricky but nothing dramatically alarming. The confusion in the conversation should be enough to confuse the individual.

For example, you can discuss some incident common to both of you and then suddenly make a remark and then repeat the part happening differently to the subject. Then when he tries to correct you, agree with what he says and act as if you are in total agreement with his statement.

By throwing someone off guard and putting them at a vulnerable spot, you can easily confuse them. Now once the subject is in a state of confusion, he is vulnerable and open to suggestions. Unconsciously the individual wants to resolve this state of confusion, thus making himself vulnerable and open to ideas. In the third stage it all comes down to timing.

While the person is still in the state of confusion, he is distracted. This is the moment for you to get in and grab the opportunity. Conversational hypnosis is always subtle if you push it too hard, you will blow it. This whole process takes a lot of practice specially in certain areas of the stages.

You must keep it in mind that covert hypnosis doesn’t work on all. Human mind is very complex and dynamic. You need to be able to carefully read the mind of the individual first, before you could induce him with your hypnosis. There are many good books on this topic, so if this topic interests you then go out there and read the topic in detail.

When I first came across The Unexplainable Store Shaman Consciousness product page, I was really intrigued. I have never met a real shaman before but some of my friends in Asia had. They told me the experience of meeting a real shaman can be scary and exciting at the same time.

But what are shamans? Shamans are considered to be magical men with special ability and they are chosen by their spiritual ancestors to act as a medium to communicate between the living and the unknown. Some culture considers these people as holy men.

Shamans are known to have the ability to travel into 3 plane of existence, which are the underworld, the everyday real world and the higher plane. Their ability to transverse into these planes is considered sort of supernatural.

Those who practice the art of shamanism will be able to communicate with the spirit world. By opening their third eye, they can talk to the dead and learning the secrets of mysterious places.

However, learning to become a shaman can take a long time. The training can also be very dangerous and some aspiring students have become mentally damaged and even death.

The risks are definitely high because it involves painful rituals, hallucinogenic drugs, starvation and even dehydration. The idea is to bring him to the brink of death in order to awaken his psychic ability. It’s fair to say the training is not meant for the average Joe.

The Shaman Consciousness brain entrainment program from The Unexplainable Store promised to bring your mind into the ideal state to achieve the desired result. When you listen to the binaural beats, it will bring your mind directly to a Low Theta state. You can safely reach this state without using any external influences or drugs. Nonetheless, practicing the art of shamanism can be dangerous and it is not meant for everyone.

Connect With The Spirit World With Harmonics

If you have the guts, there are 2 packages available for The Unexplainable Store Shaman Consciousness category. There is the basic Shaman Consciousness recording which is 20 minutes long and also the Spiritual Package Deal.

The combo deal comes with the Shaman Consciousness recording, the Spirit Guide Contact and also the Past Life Regression recordings. This is the best deal among the 2 options. For more information on the Shaman Consciousness recording, click on the link below.

One of the best sales trainers, Dale Carnegie has always stressed the importance of the “smile”. The smile is so important, Carnegie wrote an entire chapter about it in his book, How To Win Friends And Influence People.

Since then, many sales and business trainers and stage speakers have adopted this approach.

When you are learning how to use conversational hypnosis, one of the ways to influence the other person is to create a safe and comfortable environment. Smiling before a conversation will create that effect.

However, a simple grin on your face would not work anymore. It may work back in the 1930s, during Dale Carnegie’s time, but in the modern world, you will need more than that.

Most people nowadays find it hard to trust people. We are highly suspicious of people, especially if they are a stranger.

Therefore, we need more than a simple grin. We need to fine tune our smile so it will have a bigger impact when we are to initiate a conversation.

Most people can see through a fake smile. People are quick to put on a big smile with teeth flaring because that is just the way they are. A fake smile lacks warm and sincerity.

Here’s a trick that you can use the next time you smile. Do a slow smile, meaning start from a tight lip grin and slowly transform it into a wide and cheerful smile.

I read about this slow smile technique from Leil Lowndes’ book How To Talk To Anyone. Apparently, it works but I can’t explain why. I don’t understand how a television works either, but I would gladly use it.

Since a slow smile will set the stage for you to use verbal hypnosis, it makes sense to use it. What we want is to get our message across. Politicians and corporate leaders are using it, we might as well use it for our own advantage.

Learn Conversational Hypnosis

Do you want to learn more conversational hypnosis approach pioneered by Dr. Milton Erickson? If you do, learn the hypnosis techniques from one of his top student, Igor Ledochowski.
